On August 22, 2024, the Sankanur Institute of Nursing (SION) organized an Anti-Ragging Day event to raise awareness about the serious issue of ragging and its detrimental effects on students' mental and physical well-being. The program featured a detailed presentation by Mrs. Kavita Pawar, Assistant Professor at SION, who elaborated on various forms of ragging, including dress code ragging, verbal abuse, physical abuse, formal introduction, sexual abuse, drug abuse, and hostel ragging.

The Independence Day celebration at Sankanur Institute of Nursing was graced by the presence of distinguished guests and faculty members. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Kushal Godkhindi, Senior Consultant Physician at Godkhindi Hospital, who also had the honor of hoisting the national flag. Mrs. Chetana Sankanur, Advisory Committee Member of UMHTK, was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Prakash Sankanur, Vice President of Sankanur Institute of Nursing, presided over the event. The celebration was a moment of pride and patriotism, bringing together the institute's community to honor the nation's independence.

During World Breastfeeding Week 2024, an event themed "Closing the Gap - Breastfeeding Support for All" featured an educational roleplay emphasizing the importance of breastfeeding and the need for universal support. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and encourage communities to provide comprehensive support for breastfeeding mothers, highlighting the vital role breastfeeding plays in child health and development.

The Sankanur Institute of Nursing in Gadag hosted a seminar on Hospital Infection Control on August 8, 2024, led by Dr. Pallavi Deshpande, an expert in Microbiology with qualifications from the UK and an MBA in Healthcare Administration. The seminar focused on preventing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) by discussing transmission methods, essential infection control measures like hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the importance of antibiotic stewardship to combat resistant strains. Dr. Deshpande emphasized the role of healthcare professionals in minimizing infection risks and the need for proper monitoring and timely reporting to maintain patient safety and healthcare standards

Lecturers from Sankanur Institute of Nursing College, Mrs. Rashmi D and Mrs. Kavita Pawar, conducted an insightful session on first aid at Bal Vinayaka Vidyaniketan School, Gadag. The session focused on raising awareness and understanding of basic first aid techniques among students, equipping them with essential knowledge to handle emergencies effectively.

On April 7th, 2024, the Sankanur Institute of Nursing, in association with Sankanur Hospital and Research Centre, Gadag, celebrated International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” Dr. Prakash Sankanur, President of the Sankanur Institute of Nursing, delivered a speech emphasizing the benefits of meditation and pranayama. He began with the quote: "Meditation and Pranayama will help students increase their focus before studying." Marking the 10th edition of International Yoga Day, which celebrates a decade of global recognition, the event was organized by the Sankanur College of Nursing and Ipca Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Prakash Sankanur led sessions on exercises for neck and back pain, as well as meditation and pranayama, encouraging everyone to incorporate these practices into their daily routine.

On May 3rd, 2024, the Sankanur Institute of Nursing hosted a series of engaging competitions as part of the Nurses Day Week celebrations, including Fancy Dress, Mis Match Day, Mehandi, Cooking, and Face Painting. These events were judged by Dr. Prakash Sankanur, Dr. Shwetha Sankanur, Prof. Vincent Patil, Prof. Rashmi Vincent, and other faculty members.

On April 7th, 2024, the Sankanur Institute of Nursing, in association with Sankanur Hospital and Research Centre, Gadag, celebrated World Health Day with the theme “My Health, My Right.” The ceremony began with Assistant Prof. Rashmi introducing the Chief Guest Dr. Hanamanth I. Mali, MD (Anesthesiology) and Critical Care Practitioner at CCC Gadag, while student Sangeetha served as the Master of Ceremonies. Chief Guest Dr. Mali emphasized the importance of nutritious food, regular exercise, pure air, clean water, quality healthcare facilities, and good residential environments for optimal health. He also highlighted the adverse effects of factors such as traffic congestion, water scarcity, noise pollution, and war on health, comparing them to the impact of poor-quality food. Dr. Shwetha Sankanur, the President of the program, underscored the significance of maintaining health and shared valuable tips with the nursing students. Dr. Meenakshi, the Principal, reiterated that access to healthcare facilities should be a universal right, regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, or other factors.

The Sankanur Institute of Nursing, in association with Sankanur Hospital and Research Centre, Gadag, conducted an Anti-Ragging Week program on August 18, 2023. The workshop provided comprehensive education on the meaning of ragging, its severe consequences, its associated punishments, and the guidelines established by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Additionally, the workshop highlighted various measures designed to curb the menace of ragging, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
